More than 600 parietal murals adorn the interior walls and ceilings of the cave. Lascaux Cave paintings primarily belong to typical local and contemporary fauna, which is in line with the fossil record of the Upper Paleolithic time. History of the Lascaux Cave

The Lascaux Cave is the most striking of the 25 embellished caverns recognized in the Vézère valley (like the Chauvet cavern).
